About the opportunity
The Outreach Wing of Fledgling Arts Collective is a Facebook group where members can come together to support and give advice to each other, and through which they can contact us for informal advice and counselling.

As a manager for the Outreach Wing at Fledgling you will be responsible for the general running of the Outreach Wing. You will be responsible for the success of the group, and as such the role will include diverse tasks.

You will manage and mentor volunteers, give informal advice and counsel to members suffering from mental health issues, manage the Facebook group, and conduct regular promotion of the wing on social media forums such as Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the head of a small team within Fledgling Arts Collective. We welcome new ideas and approaches and, as such, there is a great deal of opportunity for creativity and for you to make a lasting impact in this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring the Outreach Facebook page; responding to posts with sympathy and advice, and managing potentially triggering posts.

  • Promoting the Outreach Wing through social media; Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest.

  • Creating and implementing new ways of expanding the wing, and reaching more people in need of our help.

  • Some basic administrative tasks when required.

  • Motivating and managing a team of Outreach volunteers; sending out the morning message to your team on your rota days, ensuring that everybody is where they are supposed to be at the right time, and keeping morale high, leading as an exemplar.

  • Mentoring new volunteers; at Fledgling we love to pass on our expertise, and as an Outreach Manager, you will be expected to mentor new volunteers and share your wisdom.

  • Working closely with other Outreach Managers and with the Director of Fledgling Arts Collective to ensure that the Outreach Wing is running smoothly, and growing steadily.

What are they looking for?
Requirements:

  • An understanding that, although this is a voluntary role, you are undertaking a long-term commitment as Manager of Fledgling Arts Collective - please do not apply for this role if you expect to leave within the next 6 months.

  • A warm, kind, and empathetic approach, and a big heart.

  • Enthusiasm and the ability to self-motivate.

  • Any experience of giving counselling, therapy, or working in mental health is desirable, but not essential.

  • You do not have to have any experience of social media - although it is desirable, it is non-essential as we will provide training in this.

  • Personal experience of mental health struggles - Fledgling is an organisation for those struggling with their mental health, run by those who can empathise with their struggles. It is therefore desirable that you have some personal experience in this area.

Our ethos is based on 'pay it forward' exchanging the arts for positive and encouraging feedback from our team of art-crazy volunteers and encouraging our members also to create a ripple effect.
