Strathmore Cricket Club has a number of volunteering opportunities to offer to young people and adults working with people of different ages. This opportunity would be suitable for someone with an interest in working with children – in childcare, education or sports development

Dynamos Cricket - Dynamos Cricket is a programme for 9-11-year olds, which is played with a soft ball. It provides an introduction to playing the game of cricket and offers some opportunity for skills development – but the primary emphasis is still on fun and positive experiences.

Dynamos Cricket at Strathmore runs on Friday evenings from May to mid-August outdoors and then moves indoors in the winter.

This opportunity would be suitable for someone with an interest in working with children – in childcare, education or sports development. No prior knowledge or experience of playing cricket is required - full training for role provided.

Frequency and commitment details

The minimum commitment required would be: · Participate in a four-hour training course · An agreed commitment to come along and support delivery – summer or winter

Restrictions

Experience required: · Good spoken communication – with children and their parents · Ability to build relationships with young children · Enthusiasm, reliability & good organisation No prior experience of cricket is required as the emphasis is on working with people in a learning and caring setting.

Support

Training details: Training would be provided by Cricket Scotland in the form of a “Coach Support Worker” course. This is a recognised qualification. It can be provided to those of 14 years and over, but not formally awarded until they reach the age of sixteen.
