Description

As a Call Befriender you must have access to a phone and be willing to make outbound calls. The role includes: contacting a small list of older people on a regular basis for a chit chat; submitting a brief record of the calls and to report any matters of concern to staff; informing Meal Makers Staff of any accidents, incidents or complaints; maintaining confidentiality; representing Meal Makers in a professional manner to our members and the wider community

Organisation aims and objectives

Our aim is to support older people to live independently at home by helping to reduce food poverty and malnutrition, improve diets and combat social isolation by breaking down the barriers that lead to loneliness.

Restrictions

Experience required: Essential: an interest in people and their lives is essential and you must be friendly, sociable and patient with a caring manner. Must be fluent in English and have good verbal communication skills. Desirable: Proficiency in IT would be beneficial but not essential
Travel details: Volunteers are not expected to travel for this position as they will be working remotely from home.
Minimum age: 18

Training details: Volunteers will receive induction training via video call and there will always be a member of staff available to support volunteers via the telephone or e-mail
