Description

We are looking for additional volunteers to support our Telephone Befriending and letter writing activity during this time. We are a national voluntary organisation whose mission is to campaign for the human rights of people living with dementia and their carers. Our vision is to ensure that nobody faces dementia alone.
What the role involves
Our Telephone Befriending /Letter writing volunteers will be asked to help us keep in contact with the people we support by providing phone calls, sending letters or emailing t0 help lift their spirits during this difficult time, or to support our online digital presence in a variety of ways.
If you are aged 16 and over and have some time to offer, Alzheimer Scotland wants to hear from you!

Restrictions

Volunteers for this role must be 16 years old or over. This role is subject to a standard police check by Disclosure Scotland which Alzheimer Scotland will provide.
Experience required: Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to recognise and respect the rich diversity that exists within our communities, different views, attitudes and lifestyles. Travel details: Home-based. Volunteer befrienders will be required to befriend people with dementia in Kilmarnock and neighbouring towns where possible.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Expenses paid monthly by arrangement.
Training details: Relevant training will be provided as appropriate; Volunteers must be willing to develop skills and experience. All of the responsibilities and duties are to be carried out according to Alzheimer Scotland’s standards, policies and procedures. Any further training needs will be identified.
