Care and Share Companionship is a Scottish Registered Charity. We support people over the age of 60 who are living in isolation and loneliness within the Kirkcaldy area of Fife. Our aim is to provide a service that helps improve health and wellbeing.
The role of the Chair is to lead the board of trustees, ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the charity, to work in partnership with the manager, helping to achieve the aims of the organisation; building relationships between the board with staff and volunteers and to optimise the skills of the Trustees. To be committed to the aims and values of the Charity.
The Chairperson is responsible for making sure that each meeting is planned effectively, conducted according to the constitution and that matters are dealt with in an orderly, efficient manner.
To attend and participate in regular Board Meetings, at present via Zoom.

Organisation aims and objectives

Care and Share Companionship provides companionship support to people over the age of 60 who are living in isolation or loneliness. Support is offered by our trained, PVG checked volunteers on a 1-1 basis which may include an introduction to a local group of interest, weekly, fortnightly or monthly. We offer a flexible and personalised approach to address the needs of the person we are supporting, such as shopping, health appointments or visiting family or friends. We also offer telephone support and respite for carers. We aim to provide a service that helps improve health and well being to make people feel valued and part of their community.










4-6 weekly meetings. 5.30 - 7pm


Experience required: We are looking for a person who has some knowledge of the voluntary sector. Good leadership skills, experience of committee work, tact and diplomacy, good people skills and the ability to be impartial and respect confidences.
Travel details: Trustee Board meetings are currently held via Zoom approx. every 4-6 weeks from 5.30pm – 7.00pm.

Expenses details: Bus fares reimbursed on face value of ticket. Mileage 45p per mile.
Taster available: Yes
Taster details: Potential volunteers are invited to attend a Board Meeting to meet the other members.
Training details: Volunteer will receive a Trustee Handbook and introduced to members of the Board. Ongoing training opportunities may be available from FVA and other Third Sector support organisations i.e. Befriending Networks.
