Case Worker

A volunteer caseworker will visit clients, who are either serving military personnel or a veteran in their own home to record details of their request for assistance. This included recording their financial situation , any relevant health issues and family needs. The caseworker then prepares a report to submit to a funding provider for assistance for the client.

Organisation aims and objectives

To provide assistance to service and ex-service families whether it be practical support or financial assistance for those in need.










Minimum of 4 hours per week


Experience required: Very good communication skills, both verbal and listening. Computer literate and good report writing skills, however training and support will be given. Access to a car desirable.
Travel details: Interviews with clients usually take place in their own homes. The branch does have an office centrally and is manned several days per week. The post covers Edinburgh and Lothians so use of a car is desirable.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Caseworker completes official claim form with details of expenditure and accurate mileage and submits to Branch Secretary for payment. Payment is made directly into caseworker bank account.
Training details: Local induction conducted within Branch and shadow visits to clients with experienced caseworker. Some online training to be completed, GDPR, safeguarding before trainee caseworker can attended 3 day training course which is fully funded including transport and accommodation costs.
