Volunteering opportunities at ‘The Workshop’ Lochaber Hope, Dalanahaine, Belford Road, Fort William, PH33 6ES
‘The Workshop’ is building a St Ayle’s Skiff starting March 2020 and ending around August 2020, when The Workshop will focus on producing bespoke, quality wooden items of furniture.
Volunteer opportunities are available for anyone who would like to be involved in the project or to learn or provide support to learners in woodworking skills. The aim of The Workshop is to reduce social isolation and suicide in Lochaber, therefore the opportunity is encouraging people who are isolated or vulnerable to get involved in a safe, positive environment.

Organisation aims and objectives

To support partnership in community rehabilitation and create a community led skills environment. To develop positive motivation and improve self esteem. To provide a safe, secure learning environment. To develop outreach potential in Lochaber. To encourage recycling in Lochaber.

Restrictions

Experience required: A willingness to learn The ability to follow instructions and adhere to health and safety procedures.

Training details: Induction includes: Introduction to the Workshop; Health and Safety Procedures; Power Tool Use. Training on the use of power tools and woodworking elements.
