To provide 4 - 12 hours per week (availability can be flexible) to help with minor repairs in residential properties, such as general maintenance including painting, basic plumbing and electrical tasks.
There may be opportunities to take part in a training course for young people sharing skills and experience with them but this will be mostly done on a 1:1 basis.
Main duties include

  • Support young people to set up a home and personalise this by supporting to paint and decorate.
  • Support young people to develop practical maintenance skills and knowledge to enable them to live independently.
  • Contribute to the overall work of the Housing Support Team.

We work to ensure that the public, policy makers, commissioners and practitioners understand the issues, make decisions and take action which will help us to end youth homelessness.












Successful candidate subject to PVG check.
Experience required: Discrete and flexible. Rock Trust works with Young People who have experienced difficulty. Self-reliant and responsible. Good communication skills. Physically capable of moving equipment or using adaptations to do this. Basic plumbing, carpentry, and electrical skills and experience.
Travel details: Travel to our flats throughout West Lothian. Drivers licence essential.

Training details: Professional and Personal Development It is the Trusts desire to encourage and enable the personal and professional development of volunteers and to that end will support volunteers in line with the requirements of the role and the responsibility of the Trust. The Volunteer Handy Person will be expected to undertake such appropriate training as is necessary to facilitate this.
