Description

Join a dynamic cafe team, serving teas, coffees, sandwiches, soup and hot lunches to members of the local community and those further afield. The cafe is run at cost, meaning customesr can come and enjoy a warm meal or a tasty treat at a low cost. Be involved in taking orders, making hot drinks, basic cooking, serving customers, and working the till. Full in-the-role training can be provided, as well as the opportunity to gain a qualification in Elementary Food Hygeine. The cafe is open 11am-2pm Tuesday, Thursday and Friday every week, along with 9:30am-11:30am the first Saturday of the month for hot breakfasts.

This opportunity is for a minimum of 2 hours a fortnight for 3 months, and takes place during both term-time and school holidays.

Restrictions

Experience required: As this is a busy kitchen environment, they're looking for volunteers who are able to listen to instructions and take heed of safety advice. They're also keen to hear from people with previous cafe experience - however, this is not necessary as full training will be provided. People come into the community centre from all walks of life, so patience and a non-judgemental attitude is required from all volunteers.
Travel details: The cafe is based in the hall of Collydean Community Centre, Torphins Avenue, Glenrothes, KY7 6UL.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Mileage paid at 45p/mile, public transport rates and agreed-upon out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
Training details: The Centre provides a full induction to all new volunteers, along with regular formal review meetings and informal catch-ups. Volunteers will be offered the chance to train to receive their Elementary Food Hygiene certificate, along with ongoing on-the-role training, given by experienced staff and volunteers.
