Volunteer Befriender

  • VO80871

Fife Young Carers are looking for volunteer befrienders to give young and young adult carers a chance to experience and access opportunities/activities within their community,

Young Carers are children and young people who in some war look after or support a family member who has an illness, disability, mental illness, or substance dependency. Having a caring role has the potential to affect every aspect of a young person's life - emotionally, mentally, physically, and socially. Many young carers report social isolation and lack of confidence as a major effect of their caring role.

Fife Young Carers would like o provide more respite breaks on a regular basis to young carers, improving outcomes through regular contact with a volunteer befriender, attending opportunities/activities in their own communities on a regular basis. To this end, they are looking to recruit a bank of volunteers who can support and encourage young people to access local activities, enabling them to live a life outwith their caring role and reduce the impact on their wellbeing.
