Description

The Community One Stop Shop supports the residents of West Edinburgh and helps alleviate the effects of poverty. We work with families and individuals in crisis.
We are looking for an experienced advice worker to help support our clients at our outreach service. Responsibilities include

  • Supporting and advising clients on a range of issues primarily; benefits and welfare issues, income maximisation, rights and entitlement.
    -Working with clients to maximise their income

Organisation aims and objectives

To provide advocacy and advice to local residents in an area of high deprivation and hardship. We support local people to take control of their finances and help maximise their income. We offer various services from our office including rent arrear surgery, police surgery, employability support and we recently launched our foodbank.

Restrictions

Experience required: Experienced advice worker, knowledge of current benefit system. Up to date on legislation regarding benefits and entitlement.
Travel details: The work will take place at the Community Flat, Dynsyre House, Edinburgh. Close to bus routes and venue has parking.
Minimum age: 21

Training details: Induction training and work shadowing of existing volunteers
