Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) is an award-winning charity, existing to provide support and opportunity to change lives for the better, across the North East Scotland and beyond.
AFCCT is the independent partner charity of Aberdeen Football Club and, together with the ‘hook’ of football, utilises the Club’s high profile, brand and connections to enhance the delivery of the trust’s charitable objectives to benefit local communities and positively influence others.
We are currently looking for volunteers for our Football Memories Group. Football Memories Scotland delivers dementia-friendly reminiscence sessions in several locations throughout Aberdeen. These sessions are a powerful tool in improving the lives of people affected by dementia, social isolation and other conditions, using football materials and memorabilia to trigger personal memories and stories.
We will train you to participate in, plan and lead these discussions. Both you and group members will have an enjoyable and fun experience and you will make a positive contribution to their lifestyles in many ways.
Football Memories Scotland operates locally in partnership with various organisations, including Alzheimer Scotland, Aberdeen FC and AFCCT. We have been inundated with requests to deliver this fantastic initiative out in the community at various locations, and we need your help to do it!
Skills we are looking for:
• Patience & Understanding • Skills in facilitating group sessions • Willing to attend training and learn • Work as part of a team • Organised and well planned • Good communication skills • An interest in helping others • Able to facilitate sessions monthly during the day & during the week
Sessions may be delivered at:
• Care Homes • Sheltered Housing complexes • Hospitals • Community Centres • Pittodrie Stadium

4.1 The advancement of public participation in: sport in Aberdeen City and Shire though the promotion, alone or in conjunction with others of participation in football and other sporting activities and acting as advisors in relation to the development of football and other sporting activities. 4.2 The advancement of health primarily in Aberdeen City & Shire by the promotion, alone or in conjunction with others, of the benefits of physical activity and provision of assistance in relation to sports-related and healthy lifestyle matters. 4.3 The advancement of community development primarily in Aberdeen City & Shire by promoting alone or in conjunction with others, participation in football clubs and other sports clubs, literacy, numeracy, employment skills, life skills, social inclusion, and social activities to all sections of the community. 4.4 The promotion of equality and diversity by encouraging participation and integration into a range of inclusive and accessible programmes which strive to bring together all sections of the community, regardless of race, religion or creed, age, gender, sexuality or physical ability. 4.5 The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities, with the object of improving conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended. 4.6 The advancement of education by the promotion, alone or in conjunction with others, of programmes and activities which have educational value.
