Description

TimeBank’s new exciting Shoulder to Shoulder Online project supports ex-Service men and women living in Scotland who are in recovery from mental health issues or having difficulty in civilian life – and support for families too. If you have the time and commitment to provide online mentor support to a veteran or family member (mentees), twice per week over the course of three to six months. You will receive training on how to support mentees to set goals to make positive changes.

TimeBank’s Shoulder to Shoulder Erskine project is a partnership with the Charity Erskine, which offers one to one volunteer mentor support for ex-service men and women living in Scotland who are recovering from mental health issues or having difficulty adjusting to civilian life – and support for families too.

Travel details: You can take part in this opportunity from anywhere Free training, learn new skills and we provide volunteer expenses You don’t need experience of working with the armed forces community and you will receive training, however we would like volunteers to have the following qualities. -patience -time and commitment -a genuine interest in helping ex-Service personnel -Enthusiastic and self-motivated -a non-judgmental attitude -Good listener and communicator -Reliable, punctual and organised -Good understanding of the English language This opportunity is based at home, however mentor training will take place at The Erskine Home, Bishopton, Renfrewshire, PA7 5PU. Volunteers will be reimbursed for travel expenses to and from training and lunch and drinks are provided.
