The Friends of Kinneil are a friendly, dedicated and award winning group who are passionate about the historic and natural heritage at Kinneil and the surrounding area. We need a wide range of volunteer skills to continue and support our work to develop and promote Kinneil House, museum, estate, foreshore and nature reserve in Bo'ness.
If you are interested in the fascinating history of the local area, in meeting people and organising events or in natural history and conservation then this charity is for you!
Since it's formation in 2006, The Friends of Kinneil has been crucial in promoting, delivering and increasing public recognition of the value of Kinneil House, Estate, Museum and Kinneil nature reserve. Working with Falkirk Community Trust and Historic Scotland we open Kinneil House 9 times per year and private tours when required. We are the main coordinator of Big Roman Week which we facilitate over Falkirk District, this festival is held every September to celebrate Anonius Pius birthday. It was he who instigated the building of the Antonine Wall. The Wall runs through Kinneil Estate. We have set up a pop up café in Kinneil Museum on the Kinneil House open days working with Falkirk Community Trust in this venture. The objective of any fundraising is to raise funds for Kinneil Museum, Estate and Foreshore.
