Care and Share Companionship, with the support of volunteers, reaches out to adults of 60 years & over who find themselves, for a wide variety of reasons, living in loneliness or isolation. In providing 1-1 support, guided by the needs and aspirations of their clients, they hope to help them find their way back out into their local community, confident that they can be supported in accessing appointments etc, and that there is someone to care and be a listener and friend.

C&SC are a young charity and in the early stages of developing their service to its fullest potential, and this is where they would like to entice a wide diversity of people to be part of their Board of Trustees. They are keen to welcome enthusiasm and the ability to commit some of your time, and if you have some experience of being part of a committee of Board that would be most useful.

Organisation aims and objectives

The organisation offers 1:1 support, 2-3 hours per week to older people living in the Kirkcaldy area, tailored to their needs. This can be by going shopping, taking them to health appointments, visitng the library, going for a walk, visiting friends, attending a local community group of interest, or simply having a chat over a cup of tea at home. This gives respite to carers to have a little "me time".

This opportunity is for 2 hours every 6-8 weeks, for a minimum commitment of 1 year.

Experience required: Being a Trustee involves having good communication skills to collaborate and consult with other trustees and staff, as well as to deliver information about the charity to interested parties.
