Description

ReConnect supports lonely and isolated older adults across rural Clydesdale with a variety of interventions aimed at increasing confidence, self-esteem and social networks. Our social activity groups are an important part of their programme offering opportunities within a variety of locations to socialise in a warm and welcoming environment whilst enjoying a stimulating activity, a cuppa and a good old laugh!

Responsibilities will be:

  • To complete necessary training as required
  • To prepare a schedule of activities with support from the Project Worker
  • To coordinate purchases of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and a treat (biscuits or cake) for the group
  • To take a register of attendees, flagging new members to the Project Worker so that relevant paperwork can be completed
  • To welcome group members, facilitating introductions and ensuring group members feel included and comfortable
  • To deliver scheduled activity
  • To prepare teas, coffees and snacks at break time
  • To ensure safe departure of all group participants
  • Record and report any concerns, accidents and incidents immediately to the Project Worker
  • To attend ReConnect volunteer and review meetings
  • To abide by the General Volunteer Agreement and adhere to Healthy Valleys policies

Healthy Valleys is a community led health improvement organisation located in rural South Lanarkshire which aims to promote health and well being opportunities in order to reduce health inequalities.

Restrictions

Volunteers must be 21yrs or over. PVG Check and references will be required.
Experience required: Positive attitude, good organisational skills, caring and supportive, patient, respect individuals and ensure confidentiality at all times, ability to motivate older people and communicate effectively with them and non-judgemental. Experience of working and engaging with older people is desirable but not essential. Good knowledge of age related conditions; mental health, addictions, dementia.
Travel details: Various locations throughout rural Clydesdale
