Description

Forth Valley Advocacy are looking for two people to join our board of trustee/directors. You will share responsibility for setting our goals, ensuring that we bring benefit to the community and meet our legal and financial obligations as an employer, a charity and a business. Our professional staff provide independent advocacy to people receiving health or social care under legislation, supporting them to have their voices heard and their rights protected.

The trustees have collective responsibility for overseeing FVA, a registered charity and company. They set its goals and budget, ensure that its resources are sustainable and used to achieve its objectives, and that it meets its legal obligations.

Organisation aims and objectives

Forth Valley Advocacy is the sole provider of independent advocacy services for older people, people affected by mental ill health, including learning disabilities, and people with an acquired brain injury across Forth Valley. FVA aims to provide high quality, confidential, independent advocacy services, supporting clients in having a voice in the way they are cared for, in the services they receive and in the decisions that are made about their lives. Advocates support clients to express their views, wishes and feelings themselves, or through a competent and independent voice, assisting them in safeguarding their rights and ensuring that those who are particularly vulnerable and/or excluded have an opportunity to take forward issues which are of importance to them.
