You will be part of the Changeworks Waste Wise Volunteer team, supporting one of the waste projects - Zero Waste Leith.

Key taks include:
• Visit local businesses and engage on waste and circular economy issues, such as inviting them to join our business charter
• Engaging with staff in local businesses and when at events, listening to their needs and signposting to relevant waste advice
• Distributing resources such as leaflets and stickers
• Capturing photos for social media
• Recording completed visits and keeping membership list updated
• Adding new businesses to online maps • Follow up with interested businesses who haven’t joined yet, and charter members to provide support and encourage progress

Changeworks develop and deliver innovative projects and businesses that inspire and empower people to make a difference. Our activities: increase energy efficiency and the use of renewable sources, prevent waste from going to landfill, promote methods of transport with low environmental impact. We provide people with the information they need to make choices that lessen their impact on the environment, we help them to lead safer, healthier, more fulfilled lives.










Frequency and commitment details

We have a flexible approach to volunteering and aim to offer a variety of opportunities that can fit around your life, as such we ask for a minimum of four hours per month.


Experience required: •Confident, friendly and personable manner • Passion for the circular economy and helping businesses to reduce waste • Experience working with or in a business • Ability to work positively as part of a team • Ability to use tablet / ipad or a willingness to learn • Ability to convey information in a clear, accurate and positive way • A good listener who can communicate effectively and tailor their engagement style and advice to different individuals • Great organisational skills

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Travel expenses paid for public transport. If using own car 45p per mile, if using a bike 20p per mile.
Taster available: Yes
Training details: Training is provided in a series of sessions delivered at Changeworks, and refreshers are given at the start of each event. Training includes information about Changeworks, background information about waste and food waste in Scotland, waste prevention and recycling information, how to engage with the public, as well as the incentives and support offered by the project and health and safety information.
