Residential Volunteer Companion - Falkland

  • VO78226

Description

Our short-term, residential, inter-generational service supports older people living within residential care, to re-live their history. As this is an inter-generational project, we typically recruit volunteers from the age of 16-21 years who are then matched with a resident of a local care home. The volunteer will generally visit the older person for 1 hour each week, getting to know them and learning about their history.

Volunteering with the resident lasts for around 16 weeks. After a few weeks of getting to know them, the volunteer will create a visual representation of the older persons memories in the form of a 'Life Map'. Full training and support provided - no previous experience required. Background check (PVG) will be needed.
