Description

YMCA Glenrothes are seeking one new voluntary Board Trustees with a genuine interest in change, for its dynamic work with young people, the homeless and disadvantaged groups. You should be able to attend four evening meetings a year, have experience of working in the public, private or voluntary sectors and a genuine interest in helping youth and the wider community, particularly those who are disadvantaged. Current work includes the purchase and upgrade of properties using secured grants, expansion of a community outdoor learning and gardening as well as community programmes to aid health and well-being. They are looking for individuals with experience of at least one of the following; local communities, youth work, housing issues, education and training, health issues, community issues post covid-19.

Organisation aims and objectives

YMCA Glenrothes has been providing learning and leisure opportunities for over 60 years, offering a friendly and welcoming community space. "The Y" has grown to be one of the largest voluntary organisations in the area, spread over three sites- all of which deliver community opportunities. Two sites also provide supported accommodation. The charity is supported by many volunteers who give regular and consistent service. YMCA Glenrothes is an independent local charity that is governed by local volunteers from Fife, and is affiliated to the worldwide YMCA movement. The charity works with many organisations across Fife, as well as YMCAs across Scotland.

Restrictions

Experience required: They are looking for individuals with experience of at least one of the following; local communities; youth work, housing issues, education and training, health issues, community issues post covid-19.
Travel details: Board Meetings are blended, via Zoom and in person in Glenrothes. Training happens throughout Fife with occasional travel to Edinburgh/Glasgow.
Minimum age: 18

Expenses details: Public transport and car mileage.
Training details: Depending on experience, courses & reading are available for all new & existing trustees. Each prospective board volunteer is 'buddied' by an existing board trustee.
