North Ayr ‘TheGither’ is a church based project working within the area of Ayr North. We work primarily with young people and children, but also have an interest in working with adults with additional support needs, and people recovering/seeking to recover from substance misuse issues. Also, we run monthly outreach events with a particular focus on the good news of Jesus Christ. We welcome everyone regardless of how much, or how little faith they have. We exist to serve our community in a variety of practical ways and are always considering how to improve our approach. Anyone considering volunteering would require a disclosure check to be done. The project would cover the cost of this. Volunteers do not need to have a faith, but would be expected to be respectful of the churches beliefs. Not all our activities have a ‘religious’ theme.
Tasks might include:
Setting up/clearing up
Facilitating arts & craft sessions
Escorting the children from the school to the church (in a group)
Playing games and engaging with the children
Any fresh ideas or particular skills that could be incorporated in to the club are welcome.
To maximise the use of church halls and facilities for and by the community and to see the place 'alive and jumping' in five years time. To help strengthen families and to create opportunities for the local community to come together
