SHAX is a young local charity dedicated to providing support for people affected by homelessness and/or poverty through recycling and reusing household goods. We provide emergency starter packs for people in crisis moving into new tenancies. We do this by re-selling donated household furniture and other household goods donated to our reuse warehouse at the Crichton, Dumfries. The role of volunteer merchandiser will include preparing smaller items for sale e.g. checking the goods are suitable for resale, cleaning, pricing, setting up bric-a-brac and possibly furniture displays for customers.

Training details: A new volunteer will come in to SHAX, be shown round the furniture warehouse and behind the scenes, including the staff-only area. They will be introduced to other staff and volunteers.
