Description

Volunteers will receive MIDAS (Mini-bus Driver Awareness Scheme) training and certification, thereby enhancing their driving skills. The opportunity to drive either six or 16-seater buses, transporting a range of community groups from throughout Wigtownshire.
Assisting children and adults with transport to and from their home to school and other activities. Also assiting them with transport to hospital appointments and excursions.

Organisation aims and objectives

The objects of the Group shall be to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Wigtownshire area by assisting through the voluntary provision of transport, advice, aid or assistance the work of statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and bodies engaged in the relief of poverty, sickness and disabilities including the disabilities of old age, the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure time occupation within the meaning of Section 1 of the Recreational Charities Act 1958 and any other charitable purpose, so that the conditions of life of the aforementioned inhabitants may be improved

Age restriction due to bus driver regulations
Experience required: Volunteers must enjoy working with children and adults. No experience is necessary as full training will be given. Driving licence essential
Travel details: In and around Dumfries and Galloway. Buses based in Stranraer
Minimum age: 25
