We all need to stay at home to protect ourselves and others. However, those who are well and not at risk can provide essential support for their family, friends and neighbours who cannot leave the house.

Event Volunteers (Aberdeen Young Carers)

  • VO77068

Description

Incredible things happen when you believe in children… become a volunteer for Barnardo’s and see why.
We are looking for volunteers to help support our Aberdeen Young Carer events.
A young carer is someone up to the age of 18 who provides unpaid help and support to a relative, friend or neighbour who due to illness or disability cannot manage to live independently without the carer’s help. It may involve practical support like cooking, or house work, or emotional support.
Barnardo’s want to bring out the best in every child no matter who they are or what they have been through. We look at the bigger picture and strive for a better future for all children and young people.
An event volunteer will assist at our Young Carer’s events such as summer outings, Christmas parties and young carer’s festivals. They will support the staff member in delivering any planned activities e.g. party games, and arts and crafts. They will actively participate with the activity, engage socially with the children and young people and encourage them to join in and have fun.
Further opportunities within this role are available to assist in promoting our events e.g. putting up posters and spreading the word, in helping us at recruitment events, or in fundraising for events.
If you have some time on your hands, are looking to gain experience or want to give something back into the community, come and volunteer for Barnardo’s! Flexible times available. All help greatly appreciated.
For more information please contact Susanne Fraser, Volunteer Co-ordinator at E Mail: susanne.fraser@barnardos.org.uk or tel: 01224 624090.
