Description

“Stories We Tell” is a new, innovative 8 week programme that aims to support people living with dementia to harness their creative potential, find their voice, and to build their confidence and self-esteem.

We are looking for a confident, creative individual to work alongside a professional storyteller and our local Dementia Advisor to support up to 8 people with early stage dementia to tell their stories – both biographical and fantastical – using a variety of creative stimuli.

No experience is necessary as full training and support will be given.

To provide services, information, advice and support for people with Dementia and their carers who reside in Midlothian.

Restrictions

Experience required: You don’t have to have any previous experience of dementia. We are looking for a confident, creative individual to work alongside a professional storyteller and our local Dementia Advisor to support up to 8 people with early stage dementia to tell their stories – both biographical and fantastical – using a variety of creative stimuli.
Travel details: Located less than 5 minutes from bus stops of Eskbank Road (Buses 49, 140) and less than 10 minutes from the centre of Bonnyrigg (Bus 31)
Minimum age: 16

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Volunteers can claim public transport rates and mileage. Volunteers are reimbursed monthly.
