Join our exciting Hearing Forces project which supports veterans aged 65+ who have hearing loss or tinnitus and their families and carers. It’s a great opportunity to meet veterans in a variety of settings and assist with hearing screening, information and hearing aid maintenance and be part of the award winning Unforgotten Forces consortium.
To support service users in community venues, residential units and their own homes by undertaking basic hearing aid support and maintenance including retubing and battery provision. Undertake basic hearing screening with service users who have not yet had a diagnosis. Provide information on useful equipment to improve everyday life (e.g. amplified telephones, personal listeners etc.).
Signpost and refer service users to other Unforgotten Forces partners and other external agencies. Promote the work of Action on Hearing Loss and the Unforgotten Forces consortium.
Hearing Forces is a Scotland wide service provided by Action on Hearing Loss Scotland. We provide advice and support to veterans aged 65 or over, their families and carers with hearing loss or tinnitus. Hearing Forces is part of Unforgotten Forces – a collaboration of 16 leading organisations in Scotland supporting older veteran and their families. Unforgotten Forces delivers a range of services such as advice, access to healthcare, respite care and helping to prevent isolation.
Experience required: No specific experience, just a friendly, good communicator. Willing to learn about issues affecting deaf and hard of hearing people. Comfortable supporting older people and an awareness of the veteran community would be useful but not essential.
Travel details: Travel will be as required but by agreement within the area.

Training details: Full day Induction, formal NHS Audiology training, ongoing shadowing with local Project Officer.
