You will provide an afternoon tea in your own home for around 6-7 older people and 3 or 4 drivers. An afternoon of tea and cake and most importantly chatting to everyone to ease social isolation and loneliness.
You will need easy access into your home, a downstairs toilet and a big teapot! If you can’t accommodate a group in your own home but you would still like to host then perhaps you know of a community centre, church hall etc where you could be the host.
Contact the Elderly is a national charity dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation among older people through face to face contact. Supported by a network of volunteers, the charity organises free monthly Sunday afternoon gatherings for small groups of older people, aged 75 and over who live alone, offering a regular and vital friendship link every month.
