Volunteer Driver

Larkhall and District Volunteer Group (LDVG) are looking for volunteer drivers who can help support clients to and from their non-emergency appointments. Volunteers would drive their own car to the patient's home and support to their appointment before assisting them in returning home again. Passengers may be frail, elderly, children or other vulnerable people.

Volunteers will need to have a clean, current driving licence and access to their own vehicle.

We now have 4 minibuses for hire or self-hire, 2 of our new buses can be driven on a standard car licence.

Organisation aims and objectives

Our aim is to help the elderly, housebound, disabled and isolated members of the community. We operate within the Larkhall and surrounding area, providing transport, a morning call line, lunch groups and a weekly support group. At this time, we are involved in a pilot project for a handyperson service.










Monday - Friday (mornings and afternoon). Evenings and weekends are optional.


Volunteers must be 25yrs or over. PVG Check and references will be required.
Experience required: Must have a clean, current driving licence (drivers with points will be considered on a case-by-case basis). Must be patient, understanding and good with people.
Travel details: This volunteering takes place in SOUTH LANARKSHIRE Typically within the ML9 area but may travel further on occasion e.g. travel to Monklands, Hairmyers and Wishaw General.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Reasonable expenses are reimbursed. Mileage is paid at 45p per mile. Expenses for valeting of vehicle will be paid as and when required.
Training details: Induction to the organisation and any relevant support deemed necessary for the role.
