Description

The Samaritans of Lanarkshire are looking for volunteers to help support their Outreach Team, who do public talks to schools, businesses and other charitable and church organisations. Outreach Support Volunteers will help with informing these various organisations to what the Samaritans do; what their service provides as well as support groups through talking about suicide.

Ideally, volunteers should be willing to participate in the discussion as well as lead discussions at times. Volunteers will be fully trained in their Outreach Programme and this includes listening to live calls for training purposes as well as being introduced to all other aspects of the Samaritans service.

***PLEASE NOTE: Outreach; volunteers must be free during day time hours. Volunteers will go a through a selection process and training if successful.

Organisation aims and objectives

The Samaritans of Lanarkshire aim to assist individuals who are in distress, despairing and/or suicidal by providing a listening ear, giving advice and giving the individual a chance to express how their feeling and get their worries and problems off their chest.

Flexible to suit. However typically 2 hours per month.

Restrictions

Volunteers must be 18yrs or over. PVG Check and references will be required.
Experience required: No experience required as training and support is provided. However volunteers must have a genuine interest in getting involved.
Travel details: Throughout the whole of Lanarkshire.
Minimum age: 18
