Description

The Connect 2 Befriending Project offers support for people living with dementia in their own home or care settings. We are looking for long term volunteers to provide the people living with dementia a regular weekly companionship to increase their confidence, reduce loneliness and isolation. The minimum of one year commitment is required.

Alzheimer Scotland is the leading dementia organisation in Scotland. We campaign for the rights of people with dementia and their families and provide an extensive range of innovative and personalised support services.

Restrictions

Experience required: We are looking for volunteers who are reliable, friendly and adaptable. The volunteers would need to wish to make a long - term commitment.
Travel details: At person’s home/ local communities in Edinburgh.
Minimum age: 21

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Volunteer will be reimbursed 42p per mile, which is paid monthly in arrears.
Training details: An induction and any necessary training would take place before the volunteer would begin as a befriender.
