The Youth Radio Network is an online digital platform for young people ages 13 - 25 years old. Our vision is to teach, empower and entertain young people through the power of music and digital technology. This is an exciting opportunity to join us as we build our digital radio station which is directed and run by young people. We have an ambitious programme that aims to make a difference to communities across the UK by helping young people to develop their skills, interests and employability.
We are looking to appoint a volunteer Head of Broadcasting to help build our organisation to the next level including the development and delivery of our broadcasting strategies for The Youth Radio Network.










Frequency and commitment details

Around 5 hours per week (or three days per month) plus six development days per year

Experience required: Have an understanding and interest in the needs of other volunteers and our clients. Understanding of third sector organisations. Good appreciation of a variety of musical genres. Personal integrity and commitment. Extremely approachable with strong leadership ability. Self-motivating and influencing; creative and strategic thinker. Demonstrating entrepreneurial flair. Ability to see ‘the big picture’. can work with people of all different ages and have a good working relationship.

Expenses details: The Youth Radio Network values its volunteers and we want to ensure that there are no barriers to volunteer involvement. All reasonable out-of-pocket expenses incurred in the course of a volunteer’s role will be reimbursed, including expenses for travel. In order to claim expenses, an expenses form must be completed and handed into the volunteer coordinator or your Key Contact. This process will also be explained during the induction process. What expenses will be paid for? Travel to include bus, train, taxi or car (car mileage will be paid at the rate of 25p per mile). Volunteer subsistence which covers the cost of food and beverages if volunteers have to travel as part of their role, this has to be approved by a and management committee member, volunteer coordinator or your key contact, and your limits will be discussed at the time. Other expenses need to be agreed in advance with the volunteer and management committee member volunteer coordinator or your key contact. in writing / email. Where a valid ticket, receipt or copy invoice will need to accompany a claim for expenses, if claiming for mileage a valid Mileage claim forum will also have to be filed in. Making a claim When a volunteer wants to make a claim, they will need to fill out a ‘Volunteer Expenses Form’ which will be provided by the volunteer coordinator (see appendix 1) Expense forms should be completed weekly and submitted to expences@theyouthradionetwork.com every week. The volunteer coordinator will be responsible for signing and to authorise payments for volunteer expenses. In the absence of the volunteer, coordinator authorisation can be given by the Chair of the management committee. When an expense form has been completed and authorised a payment will then be made to the volunteer either by cash, chequeen or into their bank account (a pay roll forum must be completed) on the last Friday of every month (where bank details and permission have been given).
Training details: Full training on our systems will be provided however for this role we are looking for people with previous experience.
