Deal with all financial issues relating to the club (including gathering and banking cash for term fees / trips, etc);
Deal efficiently and effectively with all invoices and bills;
Liaise with suppliers, notably the Pickaquoy Centre re bookings/payments;
Keep up to date records of all the financial transactions;
Ensure that funds are appropriately allocated;
Issue receipts and record all money received;
Attend committee meetings, prepare reports and present financial report;
Work with other committee members (e.g. Membership Secretary, Coach) as required;
Issue requests for sponsorship / additional funding letters;
Monitor club funds throughout the year; and Help prepare any documents that may be required (e.g. Grant applications, etc.)
Committee meetings happen roughly every 6 - 8 weeks throughout the year. The main periods of activity are around:

  • taking in payments each term (currently 4 terms but we are looking at moving to monthly online payments from April 2019 to make this easier)
  • payments for Club trips to attend competitions during the summer season (roughly6 - 8 competitions)
  • preparation of the Annual Accounts for the AGM.

We are also looking at recruiting a group of volunteers to assist the Treasurer with specific activities e.g. fundraising, sponsorship grant applications etc

Organisation aims and objectives

Provision of weekly athletic coaching for Junior members (aged 9-18 years). Ensuring athletic instruction is undertaken by suitably qualified and monitored coaching team members. Affiliated with Scottish Athletics. Providing opportunities for athletes of all ages to participate in competitive events both home and away, by organising competitions in Orkney and entering club teams and accompanying junior athletes to competitions on the Scottish mainland. Lead organiser for annual Orkney 10k Run series. Ensuring competition events are run in terms of British Athletics guidelines and officiated by suitably qualified individuals.


Experience required: Honesty; Accuracy; Financial record-keeping; IT skills & online banking; Good organisational skills; and Reliability.
Minimum age: 18
