SX Forth Valley - Outreach Volunteer

  • VO74159

Description

SX is a service delivered by Waverley Care. SX is about improving the sex, health and wellbeing of gay and bisexual men, and all men who have sex with men.

We’re proud to be part of that community in Scotland including Lothian’s and Forth Valley, and aim to reflect the diversity of the people we work with.

Sexual health is a big part of what we do. We’re working to reduce the transmission of HIV and STIs, encourage regular testing and inform people about how to reduce risks. We want to talk about sex and relationships, helping men get the sex they want with the most pleasure and least harm.

However, there is more to SX than sex. Through our work we’re helping to improve the mental and physical wellbeing of gay and bisexual men, providing support and information.

Work type:

Confidently deliver key sexual health messages.
Give out literature and safer sex supplies at events and bars/clubs.
Complete all monitoring and evaluation forms after each shift.
Feedback on learning or FAQ’s.
Will be required to join PVG Scheme.
All community outreach work will be accompanied.
To adhere to the policies and procedures of Waverley Care.
Willingness to use support systems and approach staff if problems arise.
Willingness to work as part of a team.
Reports to Alastair Rose (Line Manager) then Volunteer Co-ordinator.

Organisation aims and objectives

Waverley Care is Scotland’s HIV and Hepatitis C charity. We are a community of diverse and inspiring people united by the same goal – to make a positive difference in the lives of people affected by HIV or Hepatitis C in Scotland. Our work is focused on prevention, education, testing and support. Throughout Scotland we’re reducing new HIV and Hepatitis C infections, getting people diagnosed and supporting those affected in whatever ways they need. We’re also busy challenging stigma.
