A Volunteer Befriender will provide quality time on a regular basis and be there to talk to, support and listen to a child/young person aged 12 and under. They will engage in 1:1 work with the child/young person to support them to gain new experiences, increase their confidence, self-esteem and socialisation skills. Befriending offers the child/young person the opportunity to have someone to listen to them and support them in practical tasks and life skills accessing resources in the community, eg groups and activities.
Supporting families with children aged 0-12 years in Ayr Prestwick and Troon localities and the outlying villages to transform their lives and fulfil their potential
Experience required: Must be a positive, non-judgemental role model. Reliable, honest, trustworthy and good listening skills. Maintain accurate records and participate in Volunteer Induction Training. Play an active part in subsequent Support and Supervision. Have some experience of accessing local opportunities, encouraging engagement and participation. Have the ability to feedback any concerns raised.

Training details: Minimum of twenty-one hours Volunteer Induction Training given.
Support and Supervision will be provided every four to six contacts
