Description

The Machan Trust are seeking volunteers to work alongside a Children's Worker to support and engage primary school children in their schools while they attend activity groups during their lunch time.

Volunteers will support the Children's Worker to deliver lunch time activity groups to children in primary schools across the Larkhall area. Children within the primary schools are given the opportunity to come to the group after they have eaten lunch to take part in a variety of activities and supported play. The volunteers will be asked to assist by chatting to the children and building relationships with them, while encouraging them to take part in activities.

Organisation aims and objectives

The Machan Trust aims to meet young people where they are at and build trusting relationships with them. Then working together, to encourage and help adopt healthy decision-making processes in relevant life issues. These issues may include self-esteem, drugs, sexual health awareness, bullying and others.

Restrictions

Volunteers must be 16yrs or over. PVG Check and references are required.
Experience required: No experience required as full training is given. An interest in working with and supporting children is an advantage.
Travel details: This volunteering takes place in SOUTH LANARKSHIRE throughout the Larkhall area.

Training details: REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene training and Emergency First Aid training.
