Description

The treasurer plays a vital role in ensuring Headway Borders remains financially stable and maintains the longevity of the group. Headway Borders delivers vital support to those with brain injury, their families and carers.

Duties include overseeing, and presenting budgets, accounts and financial statements for approval. Being assured that the financial resources of the organisation meet its present and future needs. Ensuring that the charity has an appropriate reserves policy. The preparation and presentation of financial reports to the board. Ensuring that appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place. Monitoring the organisation's investment activity and ensuring its consistency with the organisation's policies and legal responsibilities. Ensuring the organisation's compliance with legislation. Ensuring that the accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders.

Organisation aims and objectives

To promote understanding of all aspects of brain injury and to provide information, support and services to people with a brain injury, their families and carers.

Frequency and commitment details

10 - 12 hours per month.

Restrictions

Experience required: Commitment to the organisation. Willingness to devote the necessary time and effort. Good, independent judgment. Ability to think creatively. Willingness to speak their mind. Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. Financial understanding and some previous experience (if possible).

Training details: Committee and Network Coordinator will assist with initial secretarial training. Brain injury training is offered through Headway UK.
