Description

Are you passionate about animal welfare? Join our growing team of volunteer Home Visitors and play a vital role in supporting owners and pets in your local area who are facing an emergency situation.

Pet Fostering Service Scotland (PFSS) provides short-term, emergency foster care for pets whose owners are facing one of the following situations:
*Ill health
*Temporary homelessness
*Domestic abuse

Every year we provide temporary foster care for around 200 pets across Scotland – but we want to be able to support even more.

Our volunteer Home Visitors play a vital role in delivery of our service by visiting potential volunteer pet foster carers to assess their house, home situation and the fosterer.

This opportunity is home based with travel to other local locations to carry out home visits. Travel can be by public transport or car and travel expenses will be provided.

You will be contacted by PFSS when there is a need for a home visit in your area.

The main tasks are:
*Contact the potential fosterer and arrange a time for the home visit to take place
*Carry out the home visit following the guidelines provided by PFSS.
*Complete the home visit report and return a copy to the Home Visit Coordinator

Full training and support is provided to all volunteers. Includes:
*Handbook for the role, induction and informal training either face to face or over the phone when starting in role. *Ongoing support provided and informal update training as required.

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Agreed out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed e.g. public transport costs (on production of receipts), mileage at 45p/mile. Expenses are usually claimed monthly but can be claimed more frequently if required.
Taster available: Yes

Outdoor Education Assistant

An exciting opportunity to join the Under the Trees team, working in the great and beautiful outdoors whilst gaining valuable experience working with young children and young adults. You will potentially be working in all weathers and in all seasons - we can provide waterproofs! Under the Trees runs fun and educational sessions for school children in the Falkirk and Stirling areas, as well as a programme of public events for all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Events run all year round. As a Volunteer Education Assistant, there will be opportunities for you to do a range of the following: - Assist with Educational Sessions for school groups, including term-time forest schools. - Assist with sessions for the general public, including a monthly nature club for ages 0-13. - Assist with holiday play sessions and family events. - Plan and lead in activities. - Maintain resources effectively. - Keep session areas safe and tidy. - Desk-based activities in planning, creating materials and administration.

Fundraising and Social Media Coordinator

The Arkbound Foundation is based upon widening accessibility and diversity within the publishing and media industries. We believe that everyone should be able to participate in the opportunities that both industries offer, regardless of their background or personal circumstances. This could be by way of publishing books, or becoming a journalist. Our three core areas of activity are writing workshops, book publishing and mentoring. Are you a climate activist good at social media and fundraising? The Arkbound Foundation, a charity publisher, is producing a book on revolutionary climate action and societal collapse due for release in 2025. The crowdfunder for publishing costs begins on 1st August 2024. Committed activists with big social media followings are needed right now to guarantee maximum donations on the 1st August and through to the end of the fundraiser on 31st October. If you pass the volunteer interview, we expect a commitment of 5 hours per week until the end of October, plus 5 hours of availability on 1st August 2024. What will people actually be doing? The volunteer tasks will be posting on social media to direct people to the book fundraiser, creating exciting content to interest people in the fundraiser, including video content for TikTok and YouTube, and emailing organisations and platforms about the fundraiser. New ideas for improving fundraiser promotion will also be discussed as a team. Training and support information Volunteers will receive regular support by email and WhatsApp. There will also be motivational Zoom calls to discuss and track performance. Although we are looking for experienced volunteers, any information and training required for use on social media platforms will be provided. General training on fundraising will also be provided. Virtual Home Assessor

Our Virtual Home Assessors play a vital role in delivery of our service by interviewing potential volunteer pet foster carers to assess their house, home situation and the fosterer. All of our home assessments are currently carried out either by telephone interview only (for cats,birds and small animals) or by video call (Zoom/WhatsApp) for dogs. You can choose to be involved in one or both of the methods available. You will be contacted by the Home Assessment Coordinator when a new applicant becomes available. Main tasks include; contacting the potential fosterer by telephone/email/text to arrange a suitable date and time for the home assessment to take place. Once confirmed to carry out the assessment by either telephone or video. A home assessment form will be provided to you for completion during the call which covers the criterias required by PFSS for the potential fosterer to be accepted. Once completed this form is then to be uploaded onto our database via our website volunteer team page.
