Tutor Assistant ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

  • VO73181

Description

After initial training you will be matched to a group at a time, day and place to suit you. The group tutor will have overall responsibility for the group and your role will be to help learners develop their English language skills depending on their needs and goals. Each learner has a goal that they are working towards, maybe to find a job, help their children with school, pass an exam, go to the doctor without a translator, become naturalised as a British citizen.
The training consists of one session a week for six weeks. You will learn about some basic language teaching techniques, cultural and language differences to name but a few. During the training you will have the opportunity to visit a group and meet some of our learners.
We cannot run our groups and give the learners the support they need without volunteer tutor assistants.
