Description

Our Home Visitors play a vital role in delivery of our service by visiting potential volunteer pet foster carers to assess their house, home situation and the fosterer.
You will be contacted by PFSS when there is a need for a home visit in your area.
Main tasks:
Contact the potential fosterer and arrange a time for the home visit to take place
Carry out the home visit following the guidelines provided by PFSS.
Complete the home visit report and return a copy to the Home Visit Coordinator

Organisation aims and objectives

PFSS provides a unique service, supporting pet owners who are facing ill health, temporary homelessness or domestic abuse. Our volunteer foster carers give a pet a temporary “home from home”, taking responsibility for their care, feeding and exercise, freeing the owner from worry at a difficult time.

No minimum commitment ? the volunteer will be contacted when a home visit is required in their local area which they can either agree to do or turn down dependant on other commitments.

Restrictions

Experience required: A pleasant telephone manner Friendly and professional on home visits Willing to travel by car/public transport to home visits Flexibility to carry out home visit at a suitable time for the potential foster carer Be comfortable visiting potential foster carers in their homes Experience of pet ownership
Travel details: Home based with travel to other local locations to carry out home visits.
Minimum age: 18

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Agreed out of pocket expenses incurred whilst carrying out this role will be reimbursed on production of appropriate receipts, in line with the PFSS Volunteer Expenses Policy. Expenses are usually claimed monthly but can be claimed more frequently if required.
Training details: 1:1 informal training/induction is carried out when volunteer is recruited and before first home visit. Training is not certified. Volunteer will be provided with a handbook for the role detailing policies and procedures. Volunteers will be offered ongoing support and informal update training (as required) by our Home Visit Coordinator and Volunteer Coordinator.
