Description

Fife Women's Aid offer refuge, 1:1 support, group work, information, counselling, advocacy and befriending opportunities to women and their children who experience domestic abuse. They are currently based in Saltire House in Glenrothes although they provide services Fife wide.
They are seeking to recruit new Trustees to their Board to enhance the skills and expertise of the present Board Members. The Board meets every 6 weeks on a Wednesday night for approximately 2 hours. Meetings take place in their office in Glenrothes. They are looking for individuals who feel they can bring their expertise to the Board in particular areas of finance, fundraising, strategic development, policy work, marketing, charity and family law, although any relevant skills would be welcome.
There may be a requirement to attend a specific sub group meetings e.g.finance, strategy, policy, HR depending on experience.

Fife Women's Aid is a charity and a company limited by guarantee which supports women, young people and children who are experiencing domestic abuse. We provide the following services in Fife: One to one support Outreach work - work with women who come to FWA for support, who may remain in their own home, or have not been admitted to refuge Follow on work - this service enables women, children and young people to receive support once they have been re-housed into their new community Training, development and awareness raising - FWA strive to raise awareness, locally and nationally, on the effects of domestic abuse on women, children and young people, including talks to community groups. The organisation also promotes personal development of its members and service users Refuge accommodation Individual support, and group support. Confidential counselling service Independent advocacy service Court support for women Confidential support for women and children - we listen to you and support you in the choices you make information about your rights, legal issues, housing and benefits, and liaising with other agencies on your behalf Safe temporary refuge accommodation, we have refuges throughout Fife a 24-hour emergency helpline

Experience required: FWA are looking for individuals who feel they can bring their expertise to the Board in particular areas of finance, fundraising, strategic development, policy work, marketing, charity and family law, although any relevant skills would be welcome. Learn about Fife Womens Aid, its work, and the individual and collective roles and responsibilities of the Trustees. Attend at least 75% of Board meetings annually.
Travel details: Meetings held in Saltire House, Pentland Park, Glenrothes, 5 minutes walk from the local bus stops

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Travel and out-of-pocket expenses will be paid on submission of a claim with receipts.
Training details: Induction would include basic domestic abuse training and conferences via Scottish Womens Aid, FVAWP and other training agencies that new trustees can be booked on as and when available. In-house training with support staff, seeing first hand the work that FWA are involved in.
