Receive customers. Answer questions and help with purchases. Sell goods using electronic till
Pack and post mail orders. Collect goods for orders/sales. Help process returned sales
Assist in stock-taking. Report low stock levels. Assist in pricing, storing and displaying products.
Filing, photocopying and responding to phone calls
Help securely open and shut premises. Prepare shop for trading. Rubbish collection. Washing crockery. Minor local errands.

Organisation aims and objectives

Our aims are to provide a stable income for people, mostly women, often with many dependants and little or no other means of support; help preserve the culture and skills of an oppressed people; be an educational resource on all aspects of Palestinian life. Hadeel imports directly from Palestinian women's groups,co-operatives, refugee camps and caring charities.










Volunteers work 4 hour shifts; this can be as often as they like. eg: some do a weekly shift, others do a shift when they can.


Experience required: The most important things are a friendly, helpful disposition and a willingness to learn. Experience of retail is not necessary although openness to learn is important. Ability to operate an electronic till - experience not required but, again, being prepared to learn.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: We can reimburse bus fares to and from the shop, and lunch expenses up to £5.00 for volunteers working a full day. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.
Training details: Induction/ training takes place prior to the volunteer starting and on the job (all during office hours). There are occasional group training /refresher sessions in the shop from 5.30-7pm.
