Talking Points Signposter Role

Description

The role will involve speaking to people who don’t have an arranged appointment but have dropped in to speak to someone about Talking Points.

The signposter’s role may be to help find out what information the person needs and to help guide them towards this. If however, the person informs you that they need to speak to someone from the Talking Points team or you feel they would benefit from having a more in-depth conversation, you would ask them to take a seat whilst you notify a member of the team.

Travel details: Talking Points will be held in different venues across East Renfrewshire, we would do our best to make sure you volunteer at a venue local to where you live, unless you request otherwise.

Community Trust volunteers

Joining the Trust is free, members are asked to help elect the management committee, reviewing the work of the Trust and attending the Annual General Meeting. After these commitments you can get involved with as many of the our projects as you want to. You can also volunteer for our projects without joining the Trust. We are looking for help with: Organising our meetings (every 2 months), funding raising, funding applications, administrating the Trust identifying community projects and liaising with our partners (other community groups, the aberdeenshire Council and funders). Trust volunteers are also involved in: Balmedie sensory garden. Improving the path through the Magnificent 7 woods in Balmedie.

Volunteer Advisor

Citizens Advice Bureau are a network of independent charities. Each CAB helps people in its community by providing free and confidential advice, information and support. People seek help about a wide range of issues including: benefits, debt and money advice, work related problems, consumer issues, relationships and housing. Volunteers learn by 'shadowing' experienced advisers and undertaking a training programme. They are then supervised while delivering advice until they are competent enough to be approved as 'Licensed Advisers'. CAB training and experience is valued by employers and many volunteers find it helpful in developing their careers. Most volunteers also find that being part of the CAB team and working to help their clients boost their own health and well being.
