The chance to join a team of enthusiastic volunteers and be a helpful, welcoming, friendly face of KCC, assisting with the smooth running of the cinema to enhance audience enjoyment.

General stewarding duties including : Welcoming public to cinema, assisting with selling of tickets and refreshments, showing people to seats, tidying up at end of screening. In the event of an emergency assisting with the safe evacuation of venue.
It would also be useful if volunteers, as appropriate, could assist with the unloading of projection equipment and assembly of screen – under the supervision of projectionist. (This equipment is heavy so this role would not be expected of all volunteers).

Organisation aims and objectives

To provide population of Kelso and the surrounding areas with access to new release films shown on state of the art equipment through monthly screenings ( Sept- May) of 2 films – children’s and adults’.

There is a rota for monthly screenings-usually last Friday of month. Volunteers usually help at either the children’s film approx. 3.30 p.m. – 7.00 p.m. or adult film 7 .00 p.m. -10.30 p.m. Occasionally the same person will help at both screenings, normally with a change of role.

Restrictions

Experience required: No specific experience required. Communication and inter-personal skills important. Handling money necessary for certain roles but roles can be matched to individuals’ strengths and preferences.

Training details: Explanation of front of house duties, shadowing existing volunteers Steward training to familiarise with venue, emergency exits, how to assist in case of emergency.
