Carer Mentor

  • VO72336

Description

We are looking for volunteers who would be able to provide one to one support to a young or adult carer to be able to fully participate and engage in social or community life.
Carers of all ages often experience social isolation due to their caring role and can find it hard to put themselves first and get involved in groups, learning or social activities for themselves.
You will be matched with a carer by a member of the Carer Support Team and you will support that carer, through agreed activities, to work towards the goals they have set themselves and support them to engage in activities that are important to them.
We are currently offering a blended model of support and during the current pandemic and some of the support given may also be via an online platform.

Organisation aims and objectives

To provide information and support services to disabled people and carers. To ensure disabled people and carers understand and exercise their rights to services and support and act in an advocacy role if required. To work with others to identify gaps in services and develop and manage services to fill those gaps.
