Autism Rocks want to see Fife as a place where people with Autism and their families, are accepted as valued members of the community. Their mission is to promote and provide understanding, acceptance, inclusion, education and support.
Their centre in Buckhaven is open Wednesday and Thursday for drop-in sessions from 10am to 1pm, with Friday evenings from 6-8pm for teen/adult sessions and Saturdays for family days from 10.00am- 1.00pm.
Within these sessions there are many different activities on offer for service users and their families, including sensory integration, arts and crafts, music therapy, lego therapy. They have a sensory garden that they maintain together giving families the opportunity to learn some new skills.
Volunteers are needed to help at any of these times & days. There will always be a Trustee present, and you will help by speaking to family members or service users who might want a chat as well as helping to run/tidy up after the various groups or help to maintain the garden.
Organisation aims and objectives
We provide help support and advice to over 1960 families. we provide 3 drop in sessions a week,youth group on a thursday, teen and adult group on a Friday evening, home education group on a Monday . We also have a fantastic resource library that allows parents/carers to borrow books that can possibly help them on the path to understanding more about how to help their children. We also hold family days every Saturday, pool parties once a month and autism friendly bowling sessions once a month. Also Autism Friendly trampoline sessions once a month We also provide workshops and training sessions with no charge to our families. Since opening, 0ver 13000 visitors have come through the door as well as attended our external events.. We do not charge for anything we provide as most of our families are low income families so we rely on our fundraising activities to continue our services.

Restrictions
Experience required: Volunteers should have an enthusiasm to learn, patience, good listening skills, empathy and good people skills.
Ideally, you will have some experience of autism (for example, a family member or friend has autism) or are living with autism.
Travel details: At our Kaleidoscope centre based in Randolph Street, Buckhaven.

Training details: induction would entail a one hour session including volunteer pack, health and safety policy, awareness talk, tour of the facilities copy of PVG policies
