Community Group Activities Volunteer

The purpose of this role is to assist in facilitating within community groups organised by Alzheimer Scotland Borders Service.
We have community group activities across the Scottish Borders for people living with dementia and their carers. We require the help of volunteers to help facilitate these groups, which could include things such as setting up activity rooms, making tea or coffee, or chatting to people living with dementia and carers.

Role Description:

  1. Help in assisting in the running of a community group as requested by group leader.
  2. To enable individuals to meet with others with similar interests.
  3. To communicate with people with dementia, family members and staff within the community group setting.
  4. To attend training to be informed about dementia and to attend any other necessary training relevant to volunteering role.
  5. To carry out any other reasonable duties requested of the volunteer.
    You will receive ongoing support from the community activities organiser, both by phone and face to face.

Experience required: Caring nature. Willing to enable and support a person living with dementia and their family. Good listening skills. Empathy and patience.
Travel details: Scottish Borders wide – Various locations to suit volunteer
Minimum age: 16
