Description

Being a Young Lives vs Cancer Speaker means being the face of the charity. You will become known for your effective, informative and interesting presentations on our work. This is a flexible role, and will largely involve presenting at evenings and weekends, or as and when a group requires a talk.

The role is a proactive one, with a focus on developing relationships with new supporters, and can include - Promoting the work of Young Lives vs Cancer by organising and giving talks and presentations; Proactively approaching local companies, groups and organisations in order to organise speaking opportunities; Collecting cheques from community groups, businesses and organisations – saying thank you and giving a talk on behalf of Young Lives vs Cancer.

Experience of public speaking is desirable but not essential

Young Lives vs Cancer (formerly Clic Sargent) is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. We provide clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and get the most out of life. We are there from diagnosis onwards and aim to help the whole family deal with the impact of cancer and its treatment, life after treatment and, in some cases, bereavement. Today, 10 children and young people in the UK will hear the shocking news that they have cancer.

Restrictions

Our insurance policies can only cover volunteers over 18, or over 14 if they complete a risk assessment and are accompanied by a parent/guardian
Experience required: Ability to use PowerPoint, Excel & Word; A good knowledge of your local area, Good communication and interpersonal skills, to represent Young Lives vs Cancer in a professional manner; You’ll be proactive in your approach to tasks and keen to build relationships – you don’t need to have lots of experience, just enthusiasm; Willingness to learn.
Travel details: Some travelling may be required but you will be based in your local community.

Training details: Your dedicated Fundraising Engagement Manager will support you in your role and you’ll get an induction into Young Lives vs Cancer and our work Appropriate training to support you in delivering talks and presentations

Community Volunteer (South Ayrshire)

We are looking for people who are passionate about ending child hunger and ensuring that every child receives a daily meal in a place of education. As a Community Volunteer you can contribute as an individual or become part of one of our local groups of passionate volunteers, helping to grow our movement by motivating and inspiring people in your local community to support our work.
