Residential Volunteer Companion - Cardenden

  • VO71634

Description

Our short-term, residential, inter-generational service supports older people living within residential care, to re-live their history. As this is an inter-generational project, we typically recruit volunteers from the age of 16-21 years who are then matched with a resident of a local care home. The volunteer will generally visit the older person for 1 hour each week, getting to know them and learning about their history.

Volunteering with one individual lasts for around 16 weeks, towards the end of the match, the volunteer will create a visual representation of the older persons memories in the form of a 'Life Map'. Full training and support provided - no previous experience required.
Background check (PVG) will be needed.
