ITCanHelp - IT Support Volunteers

  • VO71250

AbilityNet is a registered charity that helps disabled and older people to use computers and the internet at home, at work and in education. We provide a number of free IT services for disabled and older people at home to help them get the most from their computers, laptops, tablets, ipads and smart phones. One such service is our ITCanHelp service. ITCanHelp is a network of volunteers with IT knowledge and experience who are able to visit people in their own homes to help with their computer needs. Volunteers may be asked to help set up a new computer system for someone, install software or hardware, troubleshoot problems or even help to change to a printer cartridge or give some basic training on how to use systems.
As one of our volunteers we can offer you:

The chance to work with disabled and older people.
The chance to network with other IT professionals.
The opportunity to be a Digital Champion and gain industry recognised training.
Training on disabilities and adaptive technology.
A free PVG (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
We are looking for people who have:
IT and computer skills.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Access to computer and email.

When asked why they choose to volunteer with us, this is what our volunteers have to say:

“…to try and make a positive contribution in any way I can…”
“I retired from IT and wanted to contribute my skills freely to help those who would benefit most.”
“As a disabled person myself I thought it would be helpful to share my skills with those less fortunate.”
We are currently on a recruitment drive as we have lots of clients needing our help.
If you are interested in finding out more information, please take a look at our website, email us at or phone us on 0800 269 545 where one of our team will be happy to have a chat with you. You can also apply online using the online form at
