Description

We are looking for friendly, positive and upbeat volunteers to join our team!
Our new Befriending service offers vital emotional support to individuals affected by Cystic Fibrosis who live in Grampian region, helping them to gain confidence, increase self-esteem and get out and about in their community.
As a Befriender your skills, personality and location will be matched appropriately to an individual that has requested support on a one-to-one basis. Every individual has different needs therefore what they require will be determined on their circumstances. So your responsibilities could be:
*Offering emotional support through times of change.
*Helping individuals decide what to do next
*Providing encouragement, guidance and support in finding a new job
*Helping individuals achieve specific goals
*Developing individuals skills needed to achieve greater independence
*Signposting individuals to access information and advice relating to their action plan
*You will not be expected to provide any personal care.
Befriending is flexible to suit the needs of the Volunteer Befriender and the Befriendee and can be carried out from Monday to Friday during daytimes and evenings. A meeting might include just having a coffee and a chat, going shopping or going to watch a film etc
You will be given induction training and ongoing training and support from the Befriending Co-ordinator.
